Big Hui:

The first time I saw her, she was angry at being abandoned at an animal shelter, surrounded by all kinds of cats. I was warned she bit anyone close to her. I had to wear heavy jeans at home for the first three months, yet I still ended up with numerous bruises on my arms and legs.

Despite our rocky start, we gradually developed a bond of trust. She stopped biting me and began to enjoy my petting. In the language of rabbits, the gentle grinding of her teeth indicated that she was happy, and she was truly happy whenever I petted her. Every morning, as the first sunlight shone through the window, she jumped to my bed and nudged me awake with her nose. Whenever I ate fruit, she would place her front paws on me to remind me to share, and we shared many sweet treats together, including her favorites: apple, banana, and grape. Every day when I returned home from shool, she was excited and greeted me in a special rabbit way: running circles around me three times counter-clockwise, three times clockwise, and then three times counter-clockwise again. If translated into human language, she was saying: "I love you, I love you, I love you..."

After I graduated, we flew from NY to CA to meet my husband, and then we three flew from CA to LA. Sadly, she couldn't wait to see our new home in TX.

I miss her.
